Guyana Goldfields Inc. is a well-financed Canadian-based junior mineral exploration company with offices in Toronto and Georgetown, Guyana. Its primary focus is on the exploration and development of gold deposits in the well-known Guiana Shield of South America. Located in the northern part of the Amazon Craton, the Guiana Shield covers parts of Guyana, Venezuela, Surinam, French Guyana, and northern Brazil. The Company holds advanced exploration projects in various stages of development and has been operating in Guyana continuously since 1996.
Guyana Goldfields is currently undertaking technical studies to advance and develop its Aurora Gold project. This project is on the fast track toward planned production of 4+ million ounces, production that will start in 2012. Guyana Goldfields has a 100% interest in the Aurora property, which has an estimated resource of 4.6 million ounces. In total, over 187,000 meters of drilling have been completed. Guyana Goldfields is currently utilizing six drills at the site as part of the technical work for the feasibility study and continued exploration efforts. The company envisions a highly profitable operation at Aurora with a 17-year mine life, producing approximately 250,000 ounces per year.
Guyana is an English‐speaking commonwealth with a long history of gold mining and thousands of experienced artisanal miners. Gold is the single largest export of the country; hence, the government is very supportive of mining. The Aurora Project is presently the only large-scale mine development project in Guyana.
The well-experienced management team is headed by Patrick Sheridan Jr., CEO and Director, who has 20 years experience in the mining industry and degrees from the London School of Economics. President and COO, Claude F. Lemasson, is a professional engineer with two decades of experience in mining construction and operations across Canada and the United States. Explorations are managed by Alexander Po, P. Geo, a freelance mining and exploration geologist who has managed projects in 16 countries.
Guyana Goldfields has an excellent cash position for completing its current program and then exploring and developing its other Guyana holdings at Aranka and Peter’s Mine, a total of 426,000 acres with excellent blue sky potential. The IFC of the World Bank Group is a major investor in Guyana Goldfields, providing support on environmental and community matters in line with Guyana Goldfield’s sustainability principles. Guyana Goldfields (GUY) is traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange with fully diluted shares of 75,106,503, a market cap (at C$8.01) of C$572 million, and insider ownership of 10%.
